Our Journey
1986 — The Beginning
Pleasant Company launches the first American Girl dolls: Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly. Each comes with a beautifully written book series.
1998 — A New Chapter
Mattel acquires Pleasant Company, bringing American Girl to retail stores and expanding the brand’s reach nationwide.
2001 — Girl of the Year®
Introduction of the Girl of the Year® line, featuring contemporary characters facing modern-day challenges and adventures.
2014 — Truly Me™
Launch of Truly Me™, allowing girls to create dolls that look just like them with dozens of customization options.
Today — Growing Together
